Santiago to Rio: Vineyards, Mountains and Waterfalls

On this 16-day journey travel through the heart of South America, from vibrant Santiago in Chile to the iconic city of Rio de Janeiro. En route you will visit some of the continent’s most celebrated wineries in the Mendoza region of Argentina, traverse the magnificent Andes Mountains and make a stop at the awe-inspiring Iguazu Falls.

Start your tour in Chile’s lively capital, Santiago. Explore this cultural hub and its diverse neighbourhoods and discover some fantastic places to eat. From there, your journey through the heart of South America begins. Head to the famous wine region of Mendoza and enjoy a tour of some of the finest wineries in the region, travelling by vintage car. The next stop on your tour is Salta, a green and pleasant city that is a historical highlight with several world class museums. Continue to the magnificent Iguazu Falls, a force of nature that marks the border between Argentina and Brazil, and end your tour in Rio de Janeiro, where you can relax on the beautiful beaches and explore the vibrant city centre.

  • Day 4: Mendoza, Argentina
    Flight to Mendoza and transfer to hotel. In the evening enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in the lodge garden.
  • Day 5: Mendoza, Argentina
    Full-day visit to two wineries by vintage car. Sample wines that have scored over 90 points and learn about wine methods, processes, bottling and labeling. Lunch at a winery with an amazing view of the Andes.
  • Day 6: Mendoza, Argentina
    Free morning to enjoy the lodge. Enjoy a 3-hour detox at the lodge’s Hammam Spa: Hammam is an ancient concept that involves steam circuits at different temperatures. By responding to a high concentration of moisture in different rooms, the body releases accumulated toxins and relaxes. Includes a bubble bath and oil massage with oriental snacks and drinks to finish. At sunset have a private sommelier-guided wine tasting session. 4-course dinner accompanied by Reserva and Gran Reserva wines.
  • Day 7: Salta, Argentina
    Private transfer to/from airports for arrival at Salta.

    A relaxing tour of this green and pleasant city including a visit to the High Altitude Archaeological Museum. It displays three child mummies, whose recently discovered and superbly preserved remains serve as a striking and horrific introduction to the Inca culture that once dominated this and the rest of the Andean region.
  • Day 10: Iguazu, Argentina
    Private transfer to airport with English-speaking guide, and also upon arrival at Iguazú.
  • Day 11: Iguazu, Argentina
    A relaxed walking tour exploring both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides of one of the most spectacular sites on the continent, with plenty of opportunities to witness the majesty of the falls themselves and the subtropical rainforest in the surrounding national park.
